Tanzania's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Dr. Doto Biteko, has expressed the country’s eagerness to adopt electric vehicle assembly technology from HYUNDAI Motors, recognizing the company’s role in promoting eco-friendly solutions and reducing environmental pollution.
Speaking on October 23, 2024, during his visit to HYUNDAI’s manufacturing plant in Singapore, Dr. Biteko commended the company’s innovation and highlighted the potential economic benefits for Tanzania.
His visit was part of the Singapore Energy Week conference, which aims to explore sustainable energy solutions.
“We see great potential in adopting electric vehicle assembly technology that is both environmentally friendly and supports the global shift to cleaner energy. Such innovations not only help reduce emissions but also offer opportunities to grow our economy and enhance national revenue,” Dr. Biteko said.
During the visit, Dr. Biteko was also introduced to HYUNDAI’s advanced smart farming initiative, which uses robotics to enhance agricultural efficiency.
He praised the system for increasing productivity while requiring minimal land and lowering operational costs, noting that Tanzania could benefit from similar agricultural technologies.
HYUNDAI’s Vice President and Head of Business Strategy highlighted how the company’s innovations respond to global challenges, including the environmental impact of fossil fuels and limited agricultural space in Singapore.
