Youth encouraged to uphold peace and unity at National Conference

Dar es Salaam- In a powerful address at the National Conference on the Agenda for Peace and Security for Youth, held at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Center, the Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office for Labour, Youth, Employment, and Persons with Disabilities, Ridhiwani Kikwete, has today September 22, 2023, urged the youth of Tanzania to foster peace, solidarity, and unity.

Speaking to a gathering of young people, Hon. Kikwete emphasized the importance of supporting the efforts of President Samia Suluhu Hassan. He called on the youth to become ambassadors of peace, contributing significantly to the nation's development. "I urge you to be good ambassadors of peace and patriotic citizens of our country," he stated.

The minister highlighted that the youth are a vital pillar in the country’s development and must take deliberate actions to promote a culture of peace across the nation.

Joseph Malekelea, the coordinator of the conference, noted that the event coincided with the observance of the International Day of Peace, celebrated annually on September 21. Established in 1981, this day serves as a reminder to individuals, nations, and stakeholders about the importance of maintaining peace and security.

The conference was themed "Youth Take Action to Uphold a Culture of Peace in Tanzania," reinforcing the pivotal role of the younger generation in shaping a peaceful future for the nation.
