President Samia Suluhu Hassan has congratulated Young Africans and Simba for earning qualification into CAF Champions League (CAF CL) and CAF Confederation Cup (CAF CC) group stage respectively.
Through her verified Instagram account on Sunday, she wrote: "Congratulations to Yanga and Simba for emerging winners in your matches of CAF Interclub Competitions
"Yanga have done well in the champions league and Simba in the Confederation Cup... continue to give us entertainment. My motivation and prayers from millions of Tanzanians are forever with you."
Yanga stepped into the group stage of the champions league with a 7-0 aggregate win over CBE of Ethiopia after registering successes in both legs, winning 1-0 in Ethiopia in the first leg fixture and 6-0 in the return leg clash.
On the other hand, Simba made it through to the last 16 of the Confederation Cup after outclassing Al Ahly Tripoli 3-1 at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Sunday.
The Reds roared from behind to produce the outstanding victory and propel themselves to the last 16 phase of the competition with massive backing from home fans.
The Libyan side grabbed the lead on the 18th minute courtesy of Agostinho Cristovao who took advantage of defensive blunders committed by the hosts.
But, Kibu Denis and Leonel Ateba put back their side in the race shortly before the break as the former scored to balance the deficit while the latter stretched the lead for the home team.
Then, super substitute Edwin Balua sealed the deal with a late stunner that sent packing the Libyan club from this season's Confederation Cup duels.
With the sweet 3-1 triumph, Simba bagged 15m/- from the presidential goal motivation package which is made available by President Samia Suluhu Hassan.
She buys each goal scored by a Tanzanian team in CAF Interclub Competitions for 5m/- and this is applicable only in games they win.
However, the well attended Benjamin Mkapa Stadium turned out to be a scene of celebrations after the final whistle as Simba fans acknowledged their side for successfully accomplishing the mission.
Indeed, nothing other than victory could have driven Simba to the next stage of the contest and this is another remarkable success for Tanzania football.
Still, the country will continue to deploy four envoys in the CAF Interclub Competitions next season as both Yanga and Simba have managed to venture in the last 16 phase of the champions league and confederation cup apiece.
