This year’s highly anticipated Nandy Festival is set to take place in Mwanza on Saturday, September 14th, at the Malaika Grounds, promising an unforgettable experience for attendees.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Hyatt Hotel in Dar es Salaam, the Director and Founder of Nandy Festival, Tanzanian songstress Faustina Charles Mfinanga, popularly known as Nandy, shared that this year’s event would be even bigger and better for the people of Mwanza.
"We are expecting to host a variety of artists from both Tanzania and abroad. Currently, we have confirmed that Sho Madjozi from South Africa will be joining us, along with two more surprise guests," Nandy announced.
The Nandy Festival, now recognized as one of Tanzania’s biggest music events, will also feature performances from prominent local artists such as Young Lunya, Stamina, Billnass, and female stars including Saraphina.
Saraphina, a rising star in the Tanzanian music scene, and currently enjoying massive success with her hit song Upo Nyonoyo, expressed her excitement about being part of the festival for the second time.
“It’s truly an honor to perform at Nandy Festival again. The first time I participated, I was still inexperienced, and everyone knows that Nandy took me under her wing. My involvement in the festival inspired me greatly, and I’ve learned a lot since then. This year, I’m confident that I’ll deliver even more. I’m coming home to Mwanza, and I hope everyone will welcome us with open arms,” Saraphina said.
Addressing questions about the festival’s significance and whether it favors particular artists, Nandy emphasized that the festival continues to grow, creating employment opportunities and supporting government initiatives in development, including job creation and cultural promotion.
"Today, I’m dressed in a beautiful, elegant outfit, and even African Princess (Yummy) looks stunning. This is our unique effort to promote vazi la mama (the mother’s attire), showcasing elegance and smartness both within Tanzania and internationally," Nandy added, highlighting the cultural importance of the festival.
As excitement builds, the festival is expected to draw huge crowds, with Nandy and her team promising fans an extraordinary celebration of music, culture, and style.
