Mgunda replaced at Simba Queens

The management of Simba on Monday named Musa Mgosi as the head coach of Simba Queens following contract expiration of the team's former trainer Juma Mgunda.

A statement signed by the club's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Uwayezu Regis who stated that Mgosi had already started preparing the team for the new season of the women's premier league set to begin soon.

"The management of Simba would like to thank Mgunda for his service both at Simba senior men's team and Simba Queens where he executed his responsibilities well.

"During his tenure at Simba Queens, he enabled the team to retain the Tanzania Women's Premier League (TWPL) champions," reads part of the statement.

Meanwhile, Mgunda's last match at the helm of Simba Queens was the 2-0 upset they suffered from Kawempe Muslim Ladies in the third place finish encounter of the CAF Women's Champions League CECAFA Zone qualifiers.

Despite recording a remarkable performance in group stage campaign of the qualifiers, Simba Queens were knocked out in the semi-finals after going down 3-2 to Kenya Police Bullets.

They topped group B with 7 points from three matches, winning two games and stamping one draw and they escaped the group phase without facing defeat.

But, things went from sweet to sour in the last four category as they were denied an opportunity to storm into the finals hence making it the end of the road for them.

The Queens were apparently searching for a chance to feature at the CAF Women's Champions League finals for the second time a status which is awarded to the CECAFA Zone champions.

Mgosi is therefore having a big task to negotiate the team throughout the next season as they try to defend the TWPL title they won last season.
