In a significant initiative aimed at bolstering the growth of Small and
Medium Enterprises (SMEs) across Tanzania, Tanzania Commercial Bank (TCB) is
seeking a strategic partnership with the National Assembly.
This collaboration is poised to strengthen the ties between the financial
sector and the legislative body to create a more supportive environment for
SMEs nationwide.
TCB's CEO, Mr. Adam Mihayo, accompanied by the Director of Retail and SME
Banking, Ms. Lilian Mtali, recently met with the Speaker of the National
Assembly, Hon. Tulia Ackson, to discuss this critical partnership.
The visit underscores TCB's commitment to addressing the unique
challenges faced by SMEs in different regions of the country.
With 393 Members of Parliament representing 239 constituencies, the
discussions focused on understanding the specific needs of SMEs within various
communities. Mr. Mihayo emphasized the importance of tailoring financial
solutions to meet local needs.
"There can’t be one solution for all, so we should listen to as many stakeholders as possible. This approach will enable us to create regional and, where possible, village-specific solutions that cater to the needs of SMEs within their communities," he noted
Hon. Tulia Ackson underscored the importance of such
collaborations, expressing the National Assembly's commitment to developing
policies that facilitate SME growth and ensure access to necessary resources.
"The growth of SMEs is vital to our nation’s economic
development. Through this partnership with TCB, we can work towards creating an
enabling environment that allows these businesses to succeed," she stated.
The meeting concluded with both parties expressing a shared commitment to continue exploring further areas of cooperation.
