The Land Transport Regulatory Authority (LATRA) is set to award
the Best and Safest Long-Distance Bus Operators for 2023/2024.
A statement signed by Latra’s head of public relations Salum Pazzy on
Friday (August 9) says the awards aim to improve service standards, focusing on
safety, efficiency, and the use of technology.
“The winners will be announced during the Road Safety Week celebrations,
scheduled to take place from August 26 to 30, 2024, in Dodoma” part of the
statement reads.
Competitors are categorized into three; large Operators (more than 30
buses), medium operators (with 11-30 buses), and small operators (with 3-10
buses).
LATRA encourages service users and stakeholders to participate in the
voting process, selecting their preferred operators based on the services
provided from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024.
Voting criteria and procedures can be found on the LATRA website and its
social media platforms until August 19, 2024.
The statement exposes the judging criteria based on safety, reliability,
innovation and sustainability.
“Operators with low accidents, effective bus monitoring, and proper
maintenance and those who adhere to schedules and minimal trip cancellations
will be considered,” the statement says.
