Tanzania Airport Authority (TAA) has called upon local and foreign investors to explore investment opportunities at various airports to improve the aerodrome services.

Briefing media on July 8, 2024 at the ongoing Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair, the Acting Director General of   Tanzania Airport Authority (TAA) Mr. Shadrack Chilongani said that the authority possesses substantial land resources available for investment.

He invited interested parties to explore the potential for developing industries, hotels, petrol stations, conference centers, malls, and commercial complexes within the airport vicinities.

"The services we offer and supervise go beyond passenger and cargo transportation. We provide various business opportunities, encouraging investment in sectors that complement our aviation infrastructure," he emphasized.

He also highlighted the ongoing infrastructure improvements, noting that out of the 59 airports, 14 feature asphalt runways, and 8 are equipped with pilot lights for nighttime navigation.

An additional 10 airports are currently under construction to upgrade their runways and lighting systems, which will eventually extend operational hours beyond daylight. Currently, Air Tanzania operates flights only during the day at these airports.

In another development, Mr. Chilongani elaborated on the diverse nature of transportation services provided by TAA, which include not just passengers and cargoes, but also perishable goods such as vegetables, fruits, milk, and baked items like cakes. This ensures that even items with limited shelf life are efficiently transported.

Touring TAA's booth the the Sabasaba Grounds, he delivered an impressive overview of the advancements and selfless efforts of the Aviation House.

His presence underscored the significant progress made in the aviation sector, highlighting the active participation and innovative services demonstrated at the TAA booth, including cutting-edge drone technology that captivated both private and public spectators.

Chilongani emphasized the comprehensive involvement of all institutions, with a spotlight on TAA's role in advancing flight services across Tanzania.

In his address to the press, he commended the attendees for their collective efforts, stressing the importance of unified action in fulfilling diverse roles that cater to passengers and the general public alike.

"Our theme for this year's International Trade Fair is full participation. We are committed to supervising, operating, and developing all 59 airports in Tanzania Mainland. We must explain to Tanzanians on the existing institutions, companies, and organizations that work within the Aerodrome authority," he stated.

This initiative aims to bridge the knowledge gap among Tanzanians regarding the operations and collaborations within the aviation sector, including partnerships with entities like Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA) and Air Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL).

This year's participation at the International Trade Fair serves as a testament to TAA's commitment to enhancing aviation services, fostering business opportunities, and educating the public about the pivotal role of the aviation sector in Tanzania's development.
