Dar es Salaam. Former President of Tanzania, Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, made a notable visit to the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute (JKCI) booth, observing firsthand the free heart health screening and counseling services being offered to Tanzanians at the Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere International Trade Fair grounds.
Speaking to reporters after
touring the booth, Anna Nkinda, Head of Public Relations and Communications at
JKCI, expressed gratitude to Dr. Kikwete for his efforts, which have enabled
over 600 people to access these vital health services since the start of the
exhibition on June 28.
"We extend our sincere
thanks to Dr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, whose initiatives have ensured that many
Tanzanians receive these high-quality services right here in our country at
JKCI," said Ms. Nkinda.
She added, "I also take
this opportunity to invite people from all corners of our nation to visit our
booth at JKCI during this exhibition to receive health screenings and
counseling on heart conditions."
In addition, Beatrice Mmari from
Telehealth Company announced a collaboration with JKCI to provide online
consultations, allowing patients nationwide and abroad to schedule appointments
with doctors for treatment, whether remotely or in person.
Dr. Elias Birao, one of the
cardiologists at JKCI providing health consultations at the booth, highlighted
the widespread turnout from various regions of Tanzania. He emphasized the
importance of regular health check-ups, noting that many Tanzanians unknowingly
suffer from heart conditions and hypertension.
The presence of former President
Kikwete underscored the significance of accessible healthcare initiatives like
those offered by JKCI, aiming to raise awareness and promote heart health
across Tanzania.
