The National Sports Council (NSC) has set November 24, 2026, for elections to fill leadership positions at the Tanzania Professional Boxing Regulatory Commission (TPBRC), with candidates required to meet academic and professional experience qualifications.

The election, which will be preceded by a vetting exercise, will determine leaders for seven positions, including president, vice-president, six zonal representatives and a women's representative.

In an announcement, BMT said nomination forms would be available from November 2, while November 17 would be the final day for collecting and submitting applications.

Interested candidates can obtain the forms from the council's offices on the second floor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation building, along Shaaban Robert and Ghana streets in Dar es Salaam, or download them from www.bmt.go.tz.

Applicants seeking the positions of president, vice-president and zonal representatives will each pay TZS1 million, while those contesting for the women's representative position will pay TZS200,000.

The payments will be made through government control numbers issued to applicants after collecting the forms.

Under the eligibility criteria, candidates for president and vice-president must be Tanzanian citizens aged between 18 and 75, hold a bachelor's degree from a government-recognised university and have at least five years of leadership experience in a recognised organisation or institution.

Former boxers seeking either position must have retired from the sport for at least three years.

For the zonal and women's representative positions, applicants must be Tanzanian citizens aged between 18 and 75, with at least a Standard Seven education.

Candidates for zonal representative positions must have at least three years of leadership experience in a sports institution in the country, while those seeking the women's representative position must demonstrate similar experience in any institution.

Former boxers contesting these positions must also have been retired for at least three years.

The council has further ruled out candidates with previous criminal convictions, including offences involving the use of prohibited substances and illegal methods in sports.

The six zonal representatives will come from geographical groupings covering different parts of the country.

These include the Northern Zone, comprising Tanga, Kilimanjaro, Arusha and Manyara; the Southern Highlands Zone, covering Songwe, Mbeya, Njombe, Iringa and Ruvuma; and the Lake Zone, comprising Mwanza, Mara, Geita, Kagera and Simiyu.

The other groupings include the Central Zone, covering Dodoma, Singida, Shinyanga and Tabora, and the zone comprising Kigoma, Rukwa and Katavi.

The council has advised interested stakeholders to seek further clarification through telephone number 0767 044 022 or email info@nationalsportscouncil.go.tz.
