President Samia Suluhu Hassan has called for fairness, impartiality and respect for the law in resolving labour disputes, directing the Commission for Mediation and Arbitration to ensure that both workers and employers receive equal treatment.

The Head of State issued the directive on November 2, 2026, during the swearing-in ceremony of newly appointed public leaders at Chamwino State House in Dodoma.

President Samia emphasised that labour dispute resolution should be guided by established laws and procedures, without favouritism or unnecessary bureaucracy, to protect the rights of workers and employers.

She said fair and effective dispute resolution was particularly important as Tanzania's private sector continues to grow, creating the need for institutions that can address workplace grievances while promoting a healthy working environment.

The President also directed the Commission for Human Rights and Good Governance to strengthen the protection of citizens' rights and respond effectively to complaints concerning human rights violations and weaknesses in governance within public institutions.

She stressed the importance of safeguarding national interests by ensuring that public institutions operate in accordance with the principles of good governance, transparency and accountability.

In a separate directive, President Samia instructed the Tabora Regional Commissioner to closely monitor the use of public funds, supervise the implementation of government projects and ensure that citizens' concerns are addressed.

She underscored the importance of effective regional leadership in ensuring that government resources deliver tangible benefits to the public.

During the ceremony, President Samia swore in Angeline Lubala Mabula as Tabora Regional Commissioner, Dunford George Mpelumbe as Chairperson of the Commission for Human Rights and Good Governance, and Omar Ali Omar Bhai as Deputy Chairperson of the Commission.

Retired Judge Wilfred Peter Dyansobera was also sworn in as Chairperson of the Commission for Mediation and Arbitration, alongside other commissioners.

The directives place emphasis on stronger public institutions, fair treatment in workplaces, protection of human rights and responsible management of public resources to improve service delivery and public confidence in government institutions.
