Tanzania’s aviation regulator is pushing airlines to shift to digital services in a move aimed at reducing administrative delays, improving regulatory efficiency and making it easier for operators to access services.

The Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA) has urged 13 airlines to embrace the Civil Aviation Services Platform (CASP), replacing traditional procedures that require operators to visit its offices in person.

The call was made during a working session in Kibaha on October 18, 2026, where the regulator and airline representatives discussed ways to strengthen cooperation and improve service delivery through the digital system.

TCAA Director General Dr Jabiri Bakari said airlines needed to adapt to the new system by ensuring that employees understood how to use it and that required documents and information were submitted accurately and on time.

He urged airline executives to communicate the necessary instructions to their staff to ensure smooth implementation within the agreed timelines.

The shift to digital services is intended to simplify interactions between airlines and the regulator, although its effectiveness will depend on how easily operators can use the system and how quickly technical problems are resolved.

Dr Bakari acknowledged that technical challenges could emerge during the initial stages of implementation, urging users to report difficulties and seek assistance through a support desk established by the authority.

The desk can be reached through a toll-free telephone number, WhatsApp, email and other online channels.

Airline representatives welcomed the initiative, emphasising the need for continued engagement and open communication with TCAA to resolve operational challenges and improve service delivery.

The meeting comes as the authority seeks to strengthen the use of digital systems in its engagement with aviation operators. However, the benefits will depend on effective implementation, timely support and airlines’ ability to comply with the new procedures.
