Tanzania is seeking to turn its longstanding diplomatic relations with Türkiye into stronger economic cooperation, particularly in trade, investment, infrastructure, education and healthcare.
The government says expanding collaboration in these sectors could create new opportunities for businesses, improve service delivery and support development efforts in both countries.
Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Dr Ngwaru Jumanne Maghembe, made the remarks during celebrations marking the 103rd anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye in Dar es Salaam on October 26, 2026.
Dr Maghembe conveyed congratulatory messages from President Samia Suluhu Hassan, the government and people of Tanzania to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the people of Türkiye.
Türkiye marks its Republic Day on October 29 every year, commemorating the establishment of the modern republic in 1923.
"President Dr Samia joins the people of Türkiye in celebrating the establishment of their modern republic, an important historical milestone that demonstrates the country's sovereignty, resilience, national unity and continued commitment to promoting peace, stability and prosperity," he said.
Dr Maghembe said the anniversary offered an opportunity for the two countries to reflect on their longstanding friendship and explore ways of expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
He said Tanzania remained committed to strengthening bilateral relations through diplomatic dialogue, political consultations and partnerships that respond to the development priorities of both countries.
He identified trade and investment, education, healthcare, infrastructure development and tourism as key areas in which the two countries could deepen collaboration.
For Tanzania, stronger economic engagement with Türkiye presents an opportunity to attract investment, expand business partnerships and facilitate the exchange of expertise and technology across different sectors.
Dr Maghembe said the government valued its relationship with Türkiye and was committed to identifying additional opportunities that would translate diplomatic ties into benefits for citizens of both countries.
He emphasised that Tanzania wanted to broaden the scope of cooperation to ensure the partnership continued to support shared economic and social development goals.
