SIMBA Sports Club will hold its general election on January 3, 2027, with candidates expected to begin collecting nomination forms on October 30 as the club prepares to elect new leaders.

The election timetable, announced by the club’s Election Committee, sets out a two-month process covering nomination, verification of candidates, handling of objections and campaigns ahead of the polls.

Simba Election Committee Vice-Chairman Alpha Gervas said candidates would collect nomination forms from October 30 to November 6 and submit them between November 7 and 11.

The committee will examine and verify the applications from November 12 to 14 to establish whether candidates meet the required qualifications. The names of eligible candidates will be published on November 15, when the period for filing objections will also begin.

Gervas said objections would be received on November 17 and 18, followed by the preparation and issuance of summons to the affected parties between November 19 and 21.

Hearings will take place from November 23 to 25, with decisions expected between November 26 and 27. The final list of candidates cleared to contest will be announced on November 30.

Campaigns will begin on December 3 and run until January 2, 2027, a day before members elect their leaders.

Simba Election Committee Chairman Anderson Msumba said the process would follow the club’s 2018 Constitution, which was amended in 2025 and registered in February 2026.

He said Article 26 requires the club to conduct general elections every four years, noting that the last polls were held in January 2023.

Msumba added that Simba’s election regulations and those of the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) require the committee to announce the election and publish the timetable within 60 days.

Meanwhile, committee member Richard Mwalibwa said seven leadership positions would be filled in accordance with Article 27 of the club’s constitution.

Five positions will be contested through elections, while two others will be filled through appointments by the elected chairman.

He said candidates seeking the chairmanship must hold a university degree.

Of the five elective positions, one is reserved for a woman, while the remaining four are open to both male and female candidates.

Applicants for the other leadership positions must have at least Form Four education, Mwalibwa said.

All candidates must be aged between 25 and 65, be registered Simba members and have maintained membership for at least three years.

The election will determine the club’s leadership for the next four-year term.
