REA staff use Namtumbo marathon to promote clean cooking energy

By Our Reporter

Employees of the Rural Energy Agency (REA) have used the Site Trust Marathon 2026 to promote the adoption of clean cooking energy, as Tanzania steps up efforts to expand access to safer and more sustainable cooking technologies.

The REA staff participated in the marathon held in Namtumbo District, Ruvuma Region, on October 24, 2026, using the sporting event as a platform to educate residents on the importance of shifting to clean cooking solutions.

The marathon was organised by Energy Minister and Namtumbo MP Juma Homera as part of efforts to encourage community participation in sports and development activities.

REA's participation reflects the agency's strategy of reaching communities through different public platforms to raise awareness and encourage the adoption of clean cooking technologies.

The campaign comes amid growing efforts to promote clean cooking as a way of reducing reliance on traditional cooking fuels and improving household energy use.

Through its engagement with residents during the event, REA sought to bring clean cooking discussions closer to communities, highlighting the importance of public awareness in accelerating the transition to cleaner energy sources.
