Zanzibar’s First Vice-President, Othman Masoud Othman, has commended the organisers of the Supply Chain, Mobility & Logistics Awards (SML Awards 2026) for establishing a platform that brings together key economic stakeholders to exchange experiences, discuss challenges and seek solutions to problems facing the supply chain, transport and logistics sectors.

Othman made the remarks while addressing the awards ceremony held at Super Dome, Masaki, in Dar es Salaam. He said the organisers had done something unique by making the event more than just an occasion for presenting awards to winners.

He said the platform provides stakeholders with an opportunity to meet, engage in discussions and exchange experiences on various economic issues, as well as examine obstacles facing the supply chain, transport, logistics and marketing sectors. He noted that the initiative could help identify solutions and promote business activities in the country.

He also commended the SML Awards Board and all the winners recognised at the ceremony, urging them to sustain their efforts to ensure the platform continues to grow and achieve higher standards in recognising stakeholders’ contributions and strengthening business cooperation.

Meanwhile, SML Director Amon John Mtonyi said the main objective of the awards is to recognise and appreciate the contributions of stakeholders involved in supply chain, transport and logistics activities across various roles.

Mtonyi said a total of 54 companies had been recognised for their contributions and achievements through the awards. He added that the initiative also aims to establish a business platform that connects key economic stakeholders while promoting cooperation and investment in the relevant sectors.
