The NBC Tanzania Mainland Premier League is set to resume on October 8 with four matches scheduled at different venues across the country after a break to accommodate the FIFA international calendar.

Azam FC will face Coastal Union at Mkwakwani Stadium in Tanga, while Pamba Jiji will host Geita Gold at CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza.

In other fixtures, Namungo will take on TRA United at Majaliwa Stadium in Lindi, while Mashujaa will meet Polisi Tanzania at Lake Tanganyika Stadium in Kigoma.

The league was suspended to allow players to participate in international assignments under the FIFA calendar, which is expected to conclude on October 6.

The break has given the 16 Premier League clubs an opportunity to assess their performances in the opening matches, address weaknesses and prepare for the remaining fixtures.

Acting Information Officer of the Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB), Yahaya Abushehe, said the break had provided all 16 clubs with valuable time to strengthen their squads and correct areas that had emerged as challenges in previous matches.

He said the period was particularly important for teams to review mistakes made during the opening matches and make necessary adjustments ahead of the league's return.

“The competition shown by all 16 teams this season has been strong, and we expect the level of competition to continue increasing when the league resumes,” Abushehe said.

The October 8 fixtures will mark the start of the seventh round of the competition, which will also help complete the first half of the first round of the NBC Premier League.

With the teams having had additional time to prepare, the return is expected to provide another test of their consistency as the competition enters a new phase.

TPLB has wished all 16 clubs successful preparations ahead of the seventh round and called for continued competitiveness as the season progresses.
