Air Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL) has suspended flights between Dar es Salaam and Moscow following a routine risk assessment that raised concerns about the operating environment along the route.
The temporary suspension affects flights TC422 and TC423 and took effect on September 4, 2026, according to a public notice issued by the airline on September 3.
ATCL said the decision was driven by its assessment of operational risks and its commitment to prioritising passenger safety over commercial considerations.
“ATCL conducts these assessments continuously across our entire network, and where the outcome supports a pause, we take one,” the airline said.
“Safety considerations always take precedence over commercial ones,” it added.
The airline did not specify the nature of the safety concerns identified along the route or provide a date for the resumption of services.
Passengers booked on the affected flights will be offered a full refund or rebooking to an alternative date or routing at no additional cost.
ATCL has advised affected passengers to contact its customer service centre or travel agents for assistance with the available options.
The airline said it would continue monitoring conditions in consultation with relevant authorities and would resume services once its assessment determines that the route can be operated safely.
“We continue to monitor conditions in consultation with the relevant authorities and will announce the resumption of services as soon as the assessment supports it,” ATCL noted.
ATCL apologised for the inconvenience caused to passengers and thanked its customers for their continued trust and support.
