The Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA) has pitched Tanzania as a strategic investment destination for regional and international investors during a high-level trade and investment roundtable convened by the East African Business Council (EABC).
The CEO–Trade and Investment Roundtable, held on August 5 at the Johari Rotana Hotel in Dar es Salaam, brought together chief executives, business leaders, investors and policymakers from across the East African Community (EAC) to discuss opportunities and challenges affecting trade and investment in the region.
Opening the meeting, EAC Secretary General Amb. Stephen P. Mbundi underscored the importance of stronger public-private sector collaboration in advancing regional economic integration and competitiveness.
During the discussions, TISEZA presented Tanzania’s investment opportunities, highlighting priority sectors, the country’s business environment and incentives available to investors.
The authority also outlined reforms aimed at improving the investment climate and supporting business growth.
The presentation focused on opportunities in sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture, energy, tourism, logistics and infrastructure, which continue to attract growing investor interest as Tanzania pursues industrialisation and economic transformation.
TISEZA said the forum offered an opportunity to engage directly with business leaders and investors while promoting Tanzania’s competitive advantages within the regional market.
The authority also highlighted the role of special economic zones and investment facilitation services in supporting both domestic and foreign investors seeking to establish or expand operations in the country.
Stakeholders at the meeting noted that stronger regional cooperation, improved trade facilitation and increased private sector participation will be critical in unlocking investment flows and boosting intra-EAC trade.
For Tanzania, participation in the forum provided an avenue to raise awareness of available investment opportunities and strengthen partnerships that could contribute to job creation, technology transfer and sustainable economic growth.
The roundtable forms part of ongoing efforts by EAC member states and the private sector to deepen economic integration and position the region as a competitive destination for investment.
