Tanzania and the European Union (EU) have pledged to sustain and deepen their partnership after Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation Minister Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo bid farewell to the bloc’s outgoing ambassador to Tanzania, Christine Grau.
Ambassador Kombo met with Ambassador Grau following the completion of her diplomatic assignment in Tanzania, where he acknowledged her role in strengthening relations between the two sides.
The minister highlighted the EU ambassador’s contribution to advancing cooperation in key areas, including development programmes, trade and investment, the Global Gateway initiative, private sector engagement and diplomatic dialogue.
Ambassador Kombo said Tanzania remains committed to working with the European Union based on mutual respect, transparency and shared interests, stressing that the partnership continues to play an important role in supporting the country’s development agenda.
He wished Ambassador Grau success in her future responsibilities, while appreciating her efforts in fostering closer ties between Tanzania and the EU during her tenure.
On her part, Ambassador Grau thanked the Tanzanian government for the support and cooperation extended to her throughout her assignment.
She emphasised the need for continued strategic engagement between Tanzania and the EU, noting that open dialogue and collaboration in priority sectors would remain critical in advancing development goals shared by both partners.
