ORIJIN remains a talking point a week after launch

By Our Reporter

A week after its official launch in Tanzania, ORIJIN continues to generate conversations across social media, among groups of friends and in various entertainment spots, with much of the discussion focusing on its distinctive taste and African-inspired identity.

ORIJIN is a beverage brand inspired by a blend of African herbs, roots and fruits, bringing together flavours associated with the continent’s traditional ingredients. The product is available in different variants, including Bitters and Mixed Ready-to-Drink (RTD), giving the brand a presence across different segments of the beverage market.

The product was officially introduced to the Tanzanian market by Serengeti Breweries Limited (SBL), with its launch generating attention among consumers and on digital platforms.

Since then, discussions have continued, with some consumers describing the taste as different from beverages they are accustomed to, while others have drawn comparisons with flavours associated with traditional African drinks.

The combination of herbs, roots and fruits has emerged as one of the key features discussed by those who have sampled the product, with the distinctive taste becoming a central part of conversations surrounding the new brand.

On social media, discussions have ranged from first impressions of the product to conversations about its ingredients, presentation and different variants available in the market.

The continued attention comes at a time when Tanzania’s beverage industry remains highly competitive, with manufacturers increasingly looking for ways to differentiate their products through taste, branding, packaging and product formats.

ORIJIN is currently available in several formats and price points, including 750ml Bitters retailing at Sh15,000, 200ml Bitters at Sh5,000 and ORIJIN Mixed (RTD) at Sh3,000.

With the initial launch period now over, the focus will increasingly shift from the early buzz surrounding the product to how it performs in the wider market and whether the interest generated during its first week can translate into sustained consumer demand.

For SBL, the launch adds another product to Tanzania’s increasingly diverse beverage market, while the continuing conversations provide an early indication of the public interest surrounding the brand.
