Tanzania Prisons confident of surviving Premier League Play-Off

Tanzania Prisons head coach Shadrack Nsajigwa says he remains confident that his team can retain its place in the NBC Tanzania Premier League through the upcoming promotion/relegation play-offs.

The Mbeya-based side will begin its survival campaign against Polisi Tanzania in the first leg of the play-offs on July 12 at Ushirika Stadium in Moshi, before hosting the return leg at Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya.

Speaking ahead of the crucial fixtures, Nsajigwa said his squad was focused on correcting mistakes and preparing thoroughly to secure results that will keep the team in the top flight.

“We are returning to training for a few days to address the weaknesses that emerged and prepare well for the match against Polisi Tanzania,” Nsajigwa said.

He added that their recent goalless draw against Mbeya City provided important lessons on areas that need improvement before facing their play-off opponents.

Nsajigwa said the team remains motivated despite the pressure surrounding the survival battle, insisting that Tanzania Prisons has the quality and determination to overcome the challenge.

The winner on aggregate after the two legs will retain or earn a place in the NBC Tanzania Premier League for the 2026/27 season, while the losing side will drop to the Championship League.
