The stage is set for a thrilling boxing showdown as Bakari Kibiki, popularly known as Simba wa Kigamboni, and Mohamed Chapo of Masaki continue their war of words ahead of the highly anticipated Dar Boxing Derby 2026, scheduled for July 24 at the EACLC Hall in Ubungo, Dar es Salaam.

Both fighters have vowed to secure victory in emphatic fashion, with each confident of ending the contest early and proving their dominance inside the ring.

Speaking during a promotional campaign at Mji Mwema in Kigamboni, Kibiki said he is fully prepared for the challenge and believes his technical ability, discipline and experience will help him overcome Chapo.

“I have prepared well and I am ready to show my skills and boxing intelligence. My target is to win and give fans an impressive performance,” Kibiki said, urging boxing enthusiasts to attend the event in large numbers.

Supporters of Simba wa Kigamboni have also expressed confidence in their fighter, promising to stand behind him as he seeks victory in one of the biggest boxing events on the local calendar.

However, Chapo has responded strongly to his opponent’s claims, insisting that Kibiki should be prepared to face a boxer capable of matching him with greater intensity and determination.

Chapo said his preparations are complete and predicted that the fight would not go beyond the early rounds.

“I have heard what my opponent has been saying, but he should know that he is meeting a very capable fighter. I am ready to prove myself when we enter the ring,” Chapo said.

His supporters remain equally confident, saying the outcome will be decided by performance rather than pre-fight statements, and backing their boxer to emerge victorious.

Beyond the main event, Dar Boxing Derby 2026 will feature a series of exciting encounters, including Juma Choki against Tonny Rashid, Dulla Mbabe versus Hussein Itaba, Haidary Mchanjo facing Oscar Richard, and Hamad Furahisha taking on John Patrick from Tegeta.

The women’s category will also add excitement to the event, with Deborah Mwenda scheduled to face Dorothea Mhoza, while Sara Alex battles Dorisia Mazige.

Organisers said the tournament is expected to rank among the biggest professional boxing events in Tanzania this year, bringing together top fighters and providing fans with a night of competitive action and entertainment.
