Tanzania has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting reforms within the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) aimed at building a more effective, accountable and results-oriented institution.
The commitment was made by Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, during a meeting with OACPS Secretary-General Moussa Saleh Batraki in Dar es Salaam on July 20, 2026.
Ambassador Kombo said Tanzania supports the ongoing transformation agenda within OACPS to enhance institutional efficiency, strengthen accountability and improve the organisation’s capacity to serve member states.
He emphasised the importance of OACPS remaining a key platform for cooperation among countries in Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific, particularly in promoting trade, investment, development cooperation and shared strategic interests.
The minister also called for improved management of resources and effective implementation of OACPS programmes to strengthen confidence among member states and development partners.
“Reforms within OACPS are important in ensuring the organisation becomes stronger, more efficient and better positioned to respond to emerging global challenges,” Ambassador Kombo said.
For his part, Secretary-General Batraki commended Tanzania for its leadership, contribution to OACPS activities and continued support for the reform agenda.
He said Tanzania plays an important role in advancing regional and international cooperation, adding that OACPS is committed to working closely with the government to promote trade, investment and sustainable development initiatives.
The meeting highlighted Tanzania’s continued engagement in multilateral diplomacy and its efforts to strengthen partnerships that support economic growth and cooperation among OACPS member states.
