MOROGORO: Mariam Chuma Kobelo, Senior Assistant Conservation Commissioner for Tourism Services and Marketing at the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA), has received the Iconic Woman in Tourism Promotion award in recognition of her contribution to advancing Tanzania's tourism industry.
She was presented with the award during the Ladies Talk Awards & Dinner 2026 held in Morogoro on Saturday night.
The award recognises her role in spearheading tourism marketing initiatives, improving visitor services and promoting both domestic and international tourism through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, one of Tanzania's flagship tourism destinations.
Under her leadership, the authority has intensified destination marketing campaigns aimed at increasing visitor arrivals, strengthening Ngorongoro's position as a premium tourism destination in Africa and encouraging local communities to participate in sustainable tourism development.
Kobelo has also been instrumental in expanding Ngorongoro's presence in key tourism markets within and outside Tanzania while coordinating programmes that support the growth of the tourism sector alongside conservation efforts.
Speaking after receiving the award, Kobelo dedicated the recognition to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority, thanking the institution's management and Conservation Commissioner Abdul-Razaq Badru for creating an environment that encourages professionalism, innovation and staff development.
She said the honour would inspire her to continue promoting Tanzania's tourism and supporting conservation initiatives that contribute to the country's economic growth.
