The fifth Local Content Compliance Forum (LCCF 2026) opened in Mwanza on Wednesday, bringing together policymakers, mining companies, contractors, suppliers and investors to discuss ways of expanding Tanzanian participation in the country's mining industry.
The three-day forum, being held at Malaika Beach Resort from July 22 to 24, is expected to be officially opened by the Minister for Minerals, Mr Anthony P. Mavunde (MP).
Proceedings are being broadcast live on TBC1 and official social media platforms from 10:00am, allowing stakeholders across the country to follow discussions on local content implementation in the mining sector.
The forum serves as a platform for stakeholders to exchange knowledge, strengthen business networks and explore investment and procurement opportunities within the mining value chain.
Discussions are expected to focus on improving compliance with local content regulations, increasing the participation of Tanzanian-owned businesses in mining projects and identifying practical measures to enhance the sector's contribution to the domestic economy.
Local content has become a key component of Tanzania's mining policy, with the government seeking to ensure that more goods, services, jobs and business opportunities generated by the industry benefit Tanzanian citizens and enterprises.
Participants are also expected to examine challenges affecting the implementation of local content requirements and share experiences on strengthening partnerships between mining companies and local suppliers to increase the sector's economic impact.
