The Tanzania LPG Association is using the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair to encourage households to switch to liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), saying wider adoption of clean cooking energy is essential for protecting public health and the environment.

The association's Technical and Training Officer, Huruma Msigwa, said the exhibition provides an opportunity to educate the public about the government's clean cooking energy strategy and the safe use of LPG.

He said replacing firewood and charcoal with LPG helps reduce indoor air pollution, protects forests and contributes to efforts to address climate change.

Msigwa said the association represents seven LPG marketing companies operating in Tanzania and works to promote clean cooking, develop industry standards, support regulatory compliance and conduct research to strengthen the sector.

He said collaboration between industry stakeholders and government regulators is helping create a safer and more sustainable LPG market while expanding access to clean cooking energy across the country.
