The Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (TANESCO) has received recognition from the e-Government Authority (e-GA) for using digital technology to improve service delivery and strengthen engagement with electricity customers.
Officials from e-GA praised TANESCO’s digital transformation efforts during a visit to the utility’s Call Centre on July 23, 2026, highlighting how technology has helped the company respond to customer needs more efficiently.
The e-GA team said TANESCO’s use of digital platforms, including customer management systems and social media networks, has improved the way complaints are received, tracked and resolved while allowing citizens to access information more quickly.
The visit provided an opportunity for e-GA experts to learn from TANESCO’s experience in integrating technology into public service delivery, particularly in managing customer feedback and improving communication with electricity users.
TANESCO Customer Service Centre Manager, Shamu Lameck, said the visit reflected the importance of sharing knowledge among public institutions as the country continues to embrace digital solutions.
He said TANESCO has continued investing in technology to enhance customer experience, simplify access to services and ensure that challenges reported by customers are addressed within the shortest possible time.
“Digital systems have become an important tool in improving how we serve our customers by making communication faster and more effective,” Lameck said.
The recognition comes as public institutions continue to adopt digital platforms aimed at reducing service delays, increasing transparency and making government services more accessible to citizens.
TANESCO’s Call Centre has increasingly become a learning centre for various institutions seeking to understand best practices in digital customer service and citizen engagement.
