Former Tanzania Prisons player Benjamini Asukile believes the Mbeya-based side still has a realistic chance of surviving relegation from the NBC Premier League after securing a crucial victory against Pamba Jiji.
Tanzania Prisons reignited their survival hopes with a dramatic 3-2 win over Pamba Jiji in a tense encounter played at CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza, a result that has boosted the club’s confidence heading into the final stages of the season.
Speaking after the match, Asukile praised the players’ determination and fighting spirit, saying the team remains focused on securing at least a play-off position to retain their top-flight status.
According to him, the victory demonstrated that the players are fully aware of the importance of the remaining fixtures and are prepared to battle until the end of the campaign.
“The players know what is at stake. Against Pamba Jiji, they showed character, commitment and determination to fight for positive results,” said Asukile.
He added that the recent performance should serve as motivation for the squad as they continue their battle to avoid relegation.
Asukile also called on Tanzania Prisons fans to continue supporting the team by attending matches in large numbers and encouraging the players during the decisive period of the season.
“With the support of fans, the players can gain extra motivation to keep fighting for survival,” he added.
The victory has injected fresh hope into Tanzania Prisons’ campaign as the race to escape relegation in the NBC Premier League becomes increasingly competitive.
