The Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) Dodoma Regional Manager, Mr. Pendolake Elinisafi, has conducted a working visit to Chemba and Kondoa districts, emphasizing improved taxpayer services, stronger compliance, and closer engagement with business communities.
The visit aimed at strengthening cooperation between TRA and local stakeholders while enhancing voluntary tax compliance and expanding the revenue base.
In Chemba District, Mr. Elinisafi was received by District Commissioner Halima Okash, who commended TRA for its continued improvement in revenue collection performance.
She said the authority had played a key role in supporting government development priorities through effective tax administration.
She stressed the need for consistent enforcement and use of Electronic Fiscal Devices (EFDs) among business operators, saying compliance remains essential for fairness and transparency in the tax system.
“The use of EFD machines must be strengthened across all business sectors. At the same time, taxpayer education should continue so that traders understand their responsibilities clearly,” she said.
Ms. Okash also raised concerns over operational challenges facing service delivery, including limited working tools such as vehicles and the need to improve office working environments.
She further called on TRA to enhance monitoring of agriculture and livestock activities, which form the backbone of Chemba’s economy, in order to broaden the tax base.
In addition, she urged closer follow-up on contractors handling development projects to ensure they fully comply with tax regulations.
In Kondoa District, Mr. Elinisafi continued with stakeholder engagements, where he was received by District Administrative Secretary Christina Kalekezi, who delivered greetings on behalf of the District Commissioner.
Ms. Kalekezi praised TRA for introducing simplified and digital tax payment systems, noting that they had significantly reduced time spent by taxpayers and improved efficiency in service delivery.
“The introduction of simplified payment systems has made compliance easier for taxpayers and improved efficiency. However, continuous public education is still very important,” she said.
She also emphasized the importance of strengthening awareness on the proper use of tax revenues and improving monitoring of EFD systems to ensure transparency and accountability in business transactions.
During the visit, Mr. Elinisafi toured various business areas in both districts, engaging directly with traders and listening to their concerns.
Business operators raised issues related to service accessibility, compliance procedures, and operational challenges.
The TRA manager provided on-the-spot clarifications and guidance, a move that was well received by traders and aimed at strengthening trust between the authority and taxpayers.
He reiterated that TRA will continue to enhance its presence at the grassroots level to ensure that taxpayers receive timely support and clear information on tax matters.
“TRA remains committed to working closely with taxpayers, addressing challenges promptly, and improving service delivery. Strong collaboration is key to increasing compliance and supporting national development,” he said.
The visit forms part of TRA’s ongoing efforts to improve tax administration efficiency, widen the revenue base, and promote voluntary compliance through education and stakeholder engagement across the country.
