Tanzanians have been urged to turn out in large numbers and purchase tickets to witness the Knock Out ya Mama Season Eight boxing event, which will be staged tomorrow at the East African Commercial and Logistics Centre (EACLC) in Dar es Salaam.
The call was made by the Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Paul Makonda, who said the event is designed to give Tanzanians a unique entertainment experience, including what he described as special surprises planned for the night.
Makonda said he will take an active role in promoting the event, encouraging citizens to fully participate in what he termed a boxing night with an international touch.
He urged residents of Dar es Salaam and surrounding areas to ensure the venue is filled to capacity, saying strong attendance would help elevate the profile of local boxing and entertainment.
“Let Tanzanians come in large numbers and fill the hall so they can witness the surprises that will be part of this fight,” Makonda said.
The Chief Executive Officer of Mafia Boxing Promotion, Ally Zayumba, said preparations for the event have been fully completed, with all participating boxers having successfully gone through weigh-in procedures and cleared for action.
Zayumba said the eighth season is expected to deliver intense competition, as all boxers have prepared seriously and are determined to win.
He added that the event is not only about competition but also about showcasing local boxing talent and giving fighters a platform to grow.
“I invite all Tanzanians to come and enjoy the entertainment and talent of our young boxers. This is also part of supporting and empowering them,” he said.
One of the fighters, Ibrahim Mafia, said his upcoming bout carries a strong sense of revenge after losing to the same opponent in the previous season.
He said he has worked on his weaknesses with his coaching team and feels better prepared this time, although he acknowledged that his opponent has also trained hard.
Mafia called on Tanzanians to support him through prayers, saying he is focused on delivering victory and keeping the title at home.
