A total of 24 football clubs are currently competing in the Jiandae Cup, which is being played at various grounds across Ilala District as part of efforts to strengthen youth football development.
The Chairman of the Youth Football and Women Development Committee under the Ilala District Football Association (IDFA), Robert Mujuni, said the tournament has been organized to prepare teams ahead of the upcoming Third Division League season.
He said the competition is also aimed at identifying strong teams that will progress to the final stages and ultimately compete for this year’s championship title.
“We want to invest in the development of young talent so that players can be spotted by bigger clubs and eventually reach the national team level,” said Mujuni.
He added that the main objective is to raise the competitiveness of the Ilala league while also strengthening the reputation of the association through well-structured grassroots competitions.
Mujuni further noted that the Jiandae Cup is serving as an important platform for identifying and nurturing emerging football talent, particularly among young players from different neighborhoods within Ilala District.
