Simba SC secured a comfortable 3–0 victory over Fountain Gate FC in a Tanzania Premier League match played at Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium in Arusha, collecting three valuable points in their title pursuit.
The match began with both sides showing early caution, but Simba gradually took control as the first half progressed. Fountain Gate managed to stay organized defensively for most of the opening period, limiting clear chances.
However, Simba’s pressure eventually paid off in stoppage time of the first half. Clatous Chama broke the deadlock in the 45+7th minute, finishing clinically to give Simba a 1–0 lead heading into the break.
After the restart, Simba returned with increased intensity and quicker passing in the attacking third. Their approach produced a second goal in the 53rd minute when Libasse Gueye calmly converted after a clever backheel assist from Selemani Mwalimu, which sliced through the Fountain Gate defence.
Fountain Gate struggled to respond and found themselves under sustained pressure as Simba dictated possession and controlled the tempo of the game.
In the 71st minute, misfortune struck Fountain Gate when defender Shaban Mgunda turned the ball into his own net, extending Simba’s lead to 3–0 and effectively putting the result beyond doubt.
Despite late attempts to push forward, Fountain Gate were unable to break Simba’s defensive structure, which remained disciplined and compact until the final whistle.
The match ended 3–0 in favour of Simba SC, reinforcing their strong form in the league and keeping them firmly in contention at the top of the standings.
Fountain Gate, meanwhile, will need to regroup and address defensive lapses ahead of their next fixtures.
