Tanzania’s Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr. Ashatu Kijaji, is expected to address tour guides undergoing training in Arusha on how to enhance their professional skills and position themselves to benefit from the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The meeting comes as Tanzania steps up preparations for the continental football tournament, which will be jointly hosted by three East African nations: Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda.
According to officials, the minister will outline strategies aimed at strengthening service delivery among tour guides, who play a key role in shaping visitors’ experiences, while also highlighting emerging opportunities linked to the expected influx of tourists during the tournament.
The training programme in Arusha forms part of broader efforts by the government to align the tourism sector with international standards and maximise gains from AFCON 2027, which is widely seen as a major catalyst for tourism growth in the region.
