Mpoki Abraham (33), a resident of Bombambili Street in Mwakibete Ward, Uyole Constituency, has received a wheelchair and TZS 500,000 in start-up capital from Dr. Tulia Ackson, Member of Parliament for Uyole.

Mpoki, who has disabilities affecting both his arms and legs, said the support has given him hope to build a future as a successful entrepreneur.

Speaking on April 8, 2026, after receiving the assistance, Mpoki said: “Dr. Tulia is the only person who has truly believed in me. She has given me a wheelchair and capital, and I pray she continues supporting me. I want to become a big businessman, and even this small capital means a lot to me. Many people in the past promised help but never returned, but Dr. Tulia has been different.”

Lugano Mwangosi, leader of the “Bendera ya Upendo” initiative by the Tulia Trust, said the support was aimed at improving Mpoki’s economic situation.

“We also gave him TZS 500,000 to help him grow his business. The wheelchair will make his daily activities easier. We hope that in the future, he can expand his business and become a successful entrepreneur,” Mwangosi said.

The handover ceremony took place on April 2, 2026, with Dr. Tulia directing that all beneficiaries of the initiative should receive help, with Mpoki being the first to receive a wheelchair and capital.

Said Kubemba, Chairman of Bombambili Street, said the team had visited Mpoki two weeks earlier, assessed his challenges, and promised to report them to Dr. Tulia.

“The goal was to help him get a wheelchair and capital so he could expand his small shop business. We never expected this support to arrive so quickly. Within two weeks, Mpoki has already received both. We thank God for blessing our leader; we are proud to have her,” Kubemba said.

He added that Mpoki, the only child of his mother, had faced many challenges since birth, and despite promises from other well-wishers, he rarely received real help.

Mpoki said the support from Dr. Tulia has given him new strength and motivation. “I did not expect to receive this wheelchair and capital. It has opened a new chapter in my life,” he said.
