The Commissioner General of the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), Mr. Yusuph Juma Mwenda, has praised Benjamini Mkapa Hospital for its voluntary tax compliance and commitment to delivering quality healthcare services to Tanzanians.

Mr. Mwenda met today with the hospital’s leadership, led by Chief Executive Officer Prof. Abel Makubi, at TRA offices in Dar es Salaam.

He said the hospital’s dedication to paying taxes and providing advanced medical care shows the value of government investment in the health sector.

“Healthcare is one of the key services funded through taxes, and institutions like Benjamini Mkapa Hospital directly benefit citizens. TRA is ready to support the hospital, including contributing to the treatment of 100 patients scheduled for kidney and bone marrow transplants for children with sickle cell disease,” Mr. Mwenda said.

He added that Benjamini Mkapa Hospital is among Tanzania’s model taxpayers who have faithfully met their obligations.

TRA is committed to encouraging voluntary tax compliance and ensuring those who have not yet paid contribute to national development, helping Tanzania achieve greater economic self-reliance.

Prof. Makubi thanked TRA for its proactive engagement with citizens, saying the authority’s approach has increased tax collection and directly supports national development.

He noted that the hospital offers specialized treatments, including kidney and bone marrow transplants, attracting patients from across Tanzania and beyond.

The meeting highlighted the important role of tax revenues in expanding access to critical healthcare services and reinforced collaboration between TRA and health institutions.
