The Tanzania national cricket team is set to face Malawi as part of the African qualifiers for the 2028 T20 World Cup. The regional tournament is scheduled from March 22 to 30 in Accra, Ghana.
Tanzania will open its campaign on March 24 against Malawi, kicking off a series of high-stakes matches that will see several African nations competing for a place in the global event.
Speaking to The Respondent Online, Tanzania Cricket Association (TCA) Chief Executive Officer Abdallah Hamis said the team’s preparations are in their final stages ahead of the journey to Ghana.
“Our squad is training intensively and fine-tuning its strategies ahead of departure. We are fully aware of the responsibility to represent Tanzania and aim to perform at our best,” Hamis said.
According to the tournament schedule, Tanzania will face Malawi first, followed by matches against Eswatini, Saint Helena, Seychelles, and will conclude the group stage against host nation Ghana.
Tanzania enters the tournament with strong ambitions to progress beyond the preliminary stage and secure a solid position in the race for the 2028 T20 World Cup.
