The Minister of State in the President’s Office (Special Duties), Palamagamba Kabudi, has held high-level talks with the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth of Nations, Shirley Botchwey, aimed at deepening cooperation on governance, democracy, and sustainable development.
During the meeting in London, Prof. Kabudi highlighted Tanzania’s continued appreciation for the Commonwealth’s role in promoting international collaboration and strengthening democratic institutions across member states.
He underscored Tanzania’s commitment to working closely with the organisation to advance principles of good governance and inclusive development.
Ms. Botchwey welcomed Tanzania’s active participation in Commonwealth activities, praising the country’s contribution to shaping the organisation’s agenda.
She also pledged to further enhance collaboration with member states to drive shared development goals.
Prof. Kabudi is in London on an official visit to participate in key Commonwealth meetings, including the 72nd session of the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group on March 7, 2026, and the 26th meeting of Commonwealth Foreign Ministers scheduled for March 8, 2026.
The engagements are expected to reinforce cooperation among the 56 member states, focusing on governance, democracy, and joint initiatives that promote sustainable development across the Commonwealth.
