Simiyu Climate Change Adaptation Water Project reaches 72% implementation

The Simiyu Climate Change Adaptation Water Project in Tanzania has reached about 72% implementation, according to a progress meeting held to review the project’s development.

The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Water, Rose Ambrose in Dodoma.

The project is funded by the Government of Germany, the Green Climate Fund (GCF), in collaboration with the Government of Tanzania.

The Project Coordinator Engineer Annastazia Bulogo said the project has reached 71.8% completion and is expected to cost aboout Tanzanian Shillings 440 billion when completed.

The project is scheduled to be done in August 2027.

Ms. Ambrose assured the meeting that the ministry will continue working closely with all stakeholders to ensure the project is completed on time despite existing challenges.

She emphasized that any emerging issues will be addressed promptly to maintain progress.

She also directed the project supervisor, Engineer Bulogo, to engage with stakeholders from sectoral ministries to identify effective solutions to the challenges facing the project.

The meeting was attended by representatives from the Ministries responsible for Finance, Local Government (PMO-RALG), Agriculture, Health, and Fisheries. Another review meeting is expected to take place in August 2026.

The project aims to strengthen Tanzania’s resilience to climate change and improve sustainable water resource management.
