The Regional Commissioner (RC) of Dar es Salaam, Albert Chalamila, has handed over various gifts, including rice, cooking oil, soap, and sweets, provided by President Samia Suluhu Hassan for vulnerable groups in the region to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
Speaking in Dar es Salaam while distributing the gifts to the five district commissioners of the region, RC Chalamila said that this is an annual tradition set by the President.
This year, each district received one ton of rice, 30 bags of sugar weighing 20 kilograms each, 10 drums of cooking oil, six goats, 10 packs of soap, and three boxes of sweets.
RC Chalamila added that the President’s gesture is meant to serve as a model of generosity toward families in need, encouraging local leaders to support these efforts so that all vulnerable groups can be reached.
Following the handover, Ilala District Commissioner Edward Mpogolo oversaw the distribution of the gifts to approximately seven centers serving people in need, including the Ashura Foundation center in Vingunguti. Other district leaders have also continued delivering gifts in their respective areas.
Waziri Saidi, a welfare officer at the Ashura Foundation, expressed his gratitude upon receiving the Eid gifts, thanking President Samia Suluhu Hassan for remembering and supporting the community.
