Prof. Kabudi to lead Tanzania at key Commonwealth meetings in London

Tanzania is set to strengthen its voice in international diplomacy as Minister of State in the President’s Office (Special Work), Prof. Palamagamba Kabudi, arrives in London to lead the country’s delegation to the 72nd Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG) meeting and the 26th Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers (CFAMM) meeting on March 7 and 8, 2026.

The invitation follows an official request from the Commonwealth Secretary-General,Shirley Botchwey. 

Tanzania’s participation underscores the country’s commitment to promoting good governance, democracy, human rights, and the rule of law among the 56 member states of the Commonwealth.

During the CMAG session, ministers will review progress on key decisions and reinforce the core values of the Commonwealth. 

The CFAMM meeting will discuss strategic global issues, set policy priorities, and prepare for the 28th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) scheduled for November 1–4, 2026, in Antigua and Barbuda. These discussions aim to strengthen unity and advance reforms across the Commonwealth.

Prof. Kabudi will represent the Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo (MP), presenting Tanzania’s positions on critical matters under consideration.

He is accompanied by the President’s Adviser on Diplomacy, Ambassador Lazaro Nyalandu. The delegation received a briefing at the Tanzanian High Commission in the United Kingdom from Ambassador Mbelwa Kairuki, who updated them on preparations and the conduct of the meetings.

Tanzania’s active participation reflects its ongoing role in shaping international decisions and promoting regional and global cooperation.
