President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, has released TZS 25 billion to renovate the Kilimanjaro Police School, fulfilling a pledge she made during the 2024 Senior Police Officers’ meeting.

The funding targets school facilities that have suffered wear and tear since their construction in 1933, including student hostels, classrooms, and officers’ housing.

Interior Minister Patrobas Katambi, speaking during a visit by the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense, and Security (NUU), confirmed that the allocation has been managed professionally, ensuring that the funds are used effectively for the school’s modernization.

“Today, we have seen the President’s commitment translated into action. The TZS 25 billion has been implemented with professionalism, demonstrating the police’s ability to manage large-scale projects,” Minister Katambi said.

He added that similar projects are underway in other regions, using local experts and adhering to high construction standards, while incorporating modern technology, policy updates, and improved facilities for officers.

NUU Committee Chairperson Najma Murtaza Giga commended the police for the efficient execution of the project. She affirmed the committee’s confidence in the force to continue protecting citizens and property with high standards of professionalism.

Inspector General of Police Camillus Wambura expressed gratitude to the committee for visiting the school and seeing first-hand how President Samia’s funding is being applied.

He noted that the sixth-phase government has continued to enhance police infrastructure nationwide, providing officers with enabling environments to serve the public and address security challenges effectively.

The Kilimanjaro Police School upgrade is part of broader efforts to modernize security institutions, improve working conditions for officers, and ensure safety across Tanzania.
