Tanzanian officials have highlighted the Ngorongoro Conservation Area as a prime tourism destination during a strategic meeting with representatives from Zambia’s Ministry of Tourism.

The session was led by the Director of the Tanzania Tourism Board (TTB) Ephraim Balozi Mafuru, representing the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism. Mafuru said the meeting aimed to strengthen bilateral tourism cooperation.

“Tanzania continues to advance in the tourism sector through strengthened conservation, improved infrastructure, and strategic marketing both locally and abroad,” he said. “We are committed to ensuring that our unique destinations, like Ngorongoro, reach international audiences while preserving their heritage and natural beauty.”

Selestine Saitabau described Ngorongoro as “a gift basket” with diverse attractions, including human ancestral sites, wildlife, wildebeest calving grounds, shifting sands, forests, birdlife, and landscapes linking Ngorongoro, Serengeti, and Masai Mara.

Ngorongoro Conservation Commissioner Abdul-Razaq Badru welcomed the Zambian delegation, led by the Deputy Permanent Secretary and senior tourism officials.

“Ngorongoro embodies all the qualities of a Garden of Eden,” he said. “Visitors return home here to experience the natural heritage of their ancestors dating back more than three million years.”

Officials said the meeting would help expand joint tourism initiatives and position Ngorongoro as a leading destination for cultural and ecological tourism in East Africa.
