TanTrade women staff support orphans with iftar, equipment

By Alfred Zacharia

Female employees of the Tanzania Trade Development Authority have organised an iftar and donated essential equipment to orphaned children in Dar es Salaam, as part of a community outreach initiative.

The support, provided on March 15, 2026, benefited children at TCS and Salama Orphanage centres, where the staff also shared a meal with the residents.

Items donated included computers and a photocopying machine, which are expected to support administrative functions and improve learning opportunities for the children.

The delegation delivered a message from TanTrade Director General, Latifa Khamis, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to maintaining ties with orphanage centres and supporting child welfare initiatives.

She also encouraged the children to focus on their education, make use of the support provided and remain committed to achieving their goals.

The centres’ management welcomed the support, noting that the equipment will help improve record-keeping and expand access to learning resources for the children.

They also called on other stakeholders to support similar initiatives aimed at improving the welfare and development of vulnerable children.
