The Mkalama District Council has launched a mobile outreach programme aimed at providing education on the government’s 10 percent loan scheme for youth, women and people with disabilities.

The programme, known as the Mkalama Asilimia 10 Kliniki (MAK), was launched on March 16, 2026, in Nkalakala Ward, Mkalama District.

Member of Parliament for Iramba East, Ms Jesca Kishoa, commended the council for introducing the initiative, saying it will help more residents access information about the loan facility.

She said the mobile clinic will reach communities in different parts of the district and provide guidance on how groups can apply for the loans and manage them effectively.

Ms Kishoa noted that access to accurate information is important to ensure that beneficiaries use the loans to strengthen their economic activities.

Speaking during the launch, Mkalama District Executive Director Ms Asia J. Mesos said the council has already disbursed Sh290 million in loans during the 2025/2026 financial year.

She said the funds were issued between July 2025 and January 2026 to 35 groups of entrepreneurs in the district.

Ms Mesos explained that the mobile clinic will move across wards to provide education on application procedures, loan management and ways to ensure the sustainability of funded projects.

The outreach programme is expected to visit all 17 wards in Mkalama District to ensure residents receive information on how to access and benefit from the 10 percent loan scheme.
