The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the management of schools by expanding leadership training for education officials across the country.

The move is being implemented through the Agency for the Development of Educational Management, which continues to provide professional training to education leaders and stakeholders to enhance leadership, management and administration in schools with the aim of improving the quality of education.

Speaking on behalf of Deputy Minister for Education, Science and Technology Wanu Hafidh Ameir, the Director of Primary Education Abdul Maulid said the government will continue strengthening the capacity of education leaders so they can effectively supervise education services in the country.

He made the remarks while closing a training programme on leadership, management and good governance in education for Ward Education Officers from across mainland Tanzania.

The training was conducted at the Agency for the Development of Educational Management in Bagamoyo District, Pwani Region.

Maulid said the training was designed to equip education leaders and supervisors with skills to manage resources and oversee education processes effectively while upholding principles of transparency, accountability and good leadership.

He expressed optimism that ADEM will continue offering sustainable and impactful training programmes aimed at strengthening leadership, management and administration in the education sector, while also conducting research and providing professional advisory services on education leadership.

He stressed that community participation, proper use of education data and continuous professional development opportunities for teachers are key pillars in improving the quality of education in Tanzania.

Maulid also urged the participants to apply the knowledge gained during the training to improve their performance in their respective areas of work.

He emphasised the importance of professionalism, innovation, commitment and patriotism among education officials in order to achieve the country’s education goals.

For his part, the Executive Director of the Agency for the Development of Educational Management, Maulid J. Maulid, said the training forms part of the government’s broader efforts to strengthen education management systems based on good leadership, accountability and efficiency in delivering education services.

He explained that the initiative began with training programmes for primary school head teachers on leadership, management and good governance in education.

The programme involved 17,817 primary school head teachers from all 26 regions of mainland Tanzania.

According to him, the training aimed at strengthening the ability of head teachers to manage schools using effective leadership approaches while adhering to national education policies, guidelines and standards.

He added that the training ensures teaching and learning activities in schools are conducted efficiently and in line with both national and international education standards.

Evaluation of the programme, he noted, has already shown significant improvements in how head teachers lead and manage their schools after receiving the training.
