The Minister of Finance, Amb. Khamis Mussa Omar (MP), has commended the strong collaboration between the Government, the financial sector, and private enterprises in building a resilient national economy.
Amb. Omar spoke during a special Iftar hosted by NBC Bank for its clients at the Rotana Hotel in Dar es Salaam.
He highlighted that the Sixth Phase Government, under the leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, is prioritizing the development of an inclusive, competitive, and production-driven economy, which requires the active participation of all stakeholders.
“Financial institutions are central to national development. No economy can thrive without a stable, reliable financial system that reaches citizens, investors, and businesses promptly,” Amb. Omar said.
He emphasized that achieving the National Development Vision 2050, which aims for a modern economy powered by investment, industry, trade, and digital innovation, depends on banks acting not only as service providers but as key enablers of economic transformation.
Amb. Omar assured stakeholders that the Government will continue to create an environment that allows financial institutions to contribute effectively to economic growth, job creation, income generation, and societal well-being in line with Vision 2050.
He also praised NBC Bank for nurturing client engagement through events like the Iftar, which strengthen trust and cooperation.
“The holy month of Ramadan reminds us of faith, discipline, patience, honesty, and accountability. These values guide not only personal conduct but also how institutions serve low-income and vulnerable groups,” he said.
On their part, NBC Bank’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Theobald Sabi, and Board Chairman, Dr. Elirehema Doriye, commended the Government for creating and maintaining a favorable business environment, which has helped their institution grow and expand access to financing for clients.
They pledged to work closely with the Government to ensure the Vision 2050 target of a US$1 trillion national economy is achieved through joint efforts from the public and private sectors.
The Iftar brought together government officials, private sector representatives, development partners, and guests, reinforcing collaboration, solidarity, and national unity during the holy month of Ramadan.
