The Minister of Energy, Deogratius John Ndejembi, has directed the Petroleum Bulk Procurement Agency (PBPA) to speed up the delivery and distribution of fuel to all major depots across the country, aiming to secure reliable access for Tanzanians.
The announcement came today, March 26, 2026, during a high-level meeting in Dar es Salaam with PBPA officials, the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA), and Tanzania International Petroleum Reserves Limited (TIPER), focusing on the smooth reception and distribution of fuel entering the country.
Minister Ndejembi emphasized the importance of a well-planned offloading schedule to ensure that all depots receive fuel on time and in fair quantities.
He noted that this approach would minimize shortages and make fuel more readily available across regions.
He also highlighted the Government’s efforts to fast-track the unloading of incoming oil tankers, especially for domestic use, to maintain a steady and safe supply of fuel for households and businesses.
In addition, the Minister assured Tanzanians that there is no need for panic, as the country holds sufficient fuel reserves.
He called on EWURA to oversee the proper delivery and use of fuel, while urging service stations to sell products based on actual market demand.
The meeting was attended by top officials, including Dr. James Mataragio, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy, Mr. Erasto Simon, PBPA Chief Executive Officer, Dr. James Andilile, EWURA Director General, Mr. Mohamed Mohamed, TIPER Managing Director, and other energy sector experts.
