Geopark Heritage Museum briefed to Parliamentary Committee

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Lands, Natural Resources, and Tourism received a detailed briefing on the Geopark Heritage Museum project from the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority. 

The session included explanations on the formation of the Ngorongoro Crater, volcanic eruptions, the Earth’s geological development, human origins, and other related topics.

Led by committee chair Timotheo Mnzava, MPs discussed the collaboration between Tanzania and China in the development of the museum. 

The committee directed the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism to utilize the facility as a tourism attraction and an educational hub for Tanzanian youth and international visitors.

Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr. Ashatu Kijaji, assured the committee that her ministry will closely oversee the implementation and progress of the Geopark Heritage Museum.

The museum, focusing on archaeology, geology, and cultural heritage, aims to serve as a center for learning and public engagement, highlighting Tanzania’s natural and historical significance.
