The Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) recently held a special meeting to recognize and discuss innovative ideas aimed at improving tax services and boosting national revenue.
Nine innovators were invited to present their proposals to TRA management on February 12, 2026, at the TRA conference hall in Dar es Salaam.
Commissioner General Mr. Yusuph Juma Mwenda praised all participants, highlighting that the Authority received thousands of ideas from Tanzanians, demonstrating a strong commitment to national development.
“We received many ideas from Tanzanians, showing great patriotism and dedication to improving tax administration and increasing revenue for the country’s progress,” said Mr. Mwenda.
Mr. George Hellar, Deputy Director of Research and Planning at TRA, shared that a total of 5,602 ideas came from external stakeholders, while 106 ideas were submitted by TRA staff. These were carefully evaluated by a technical committee.
From the review, nine standout ideas were selected for further discussion with TRA management to explore how they could be implemented to enhance tax administration and revenue collection.
Commissioner General Mwenda also directed TRA’s Research and Planning Department to work closely with other departments and regional offices to ensure innovative solutions are applied to everyday tax operations.
He emphasized the importance of innovation in every TRA activity, ensuring more efficient and effective tax collection for the benefit of all Tanzanians.
